Sam Colombia or the Sociedad Aeronautica de Medellin S.A is an auxiliary airline company of the Avianca group, the chief airline company of Colombia. Sam Colombia is engaged at present in conducting domestic airlines . Sam Colombia destinations include places like Bogota, Cali, Tumaco, Pasto, Cartagena, Monteria, Cucuta, Valledupar, Riohacha and Medellin. Sam Colombia fleet comprises of Fokker 50 aircraft and McDonnell Douglas aircrafts. The airline was set up with the objective of establishing a means of communication to Medellin which was the center of all commercial activities. Sam Colombia soon had numerous destinations to cover both nationally as well as internationally. Its destinations included places like Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Peru, Nicaragua, Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Sam Colombia made an achievement of sorts as it became the first airliner to land at the San Andres Island. Sam Colombia then became a part of the Avianca system in 1994 along with Helicol S.A and Avianca. 2002 saw Sam Colombia been incorporated into the Alianza Summa which was an alliance of the very best in the industry.
