The flagship airline of Iran, Iran Air, was originally formed in 1946 by a group of businessmen under the name of Iranian Airways Company. Later, in the year 1962, the merger of Persian Air Services (PAS) and Iranian Airways led to the formation of Iran National Airlines Corporation, popularly known as Iran Air.
